Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Practice Development Midwife (PDM) to join our team.

As a PDM you will be responsible for advancing and enhancing the quality of care within Maternity.

The role involves designing, implementing, and evaluating educational and developmental programmes for midwives and other healthcare professionals to improve clinical practices and patient outcomes.

The PDM team plays a vital role in advancing the knowledge, skills, and practices of midwives, ultimately improving the quality of care provided to service users and their families

Full-time and part time positions are available. Flexible working applications are welcome.

Main duties of the job

Some of the main duties of the job include:

Develop curriculum, training materials, and resources to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Stay updated on the latest evidence-based practices in midwifery.

Develop and update clinical guidelines and standards to ensure adherence to best practices.

Conduct training sessions and workshops for midwives to improve their clinical competencies.

Provide ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance the skills of the maternity care team.

Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify areas for improvement in maternity care

Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.

Engage in research activities to contribute to the advancement of midwifery practices.

Integrate innovative approaches and technologies into clinical care as appropriate.

Provide mentorship and support to midwives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Address challenges and concerns related to clinical practices through guidance and coaching.

Work closely the lead midwife for education, education team members and other healthcare professionals, including obstetricians, nurses, and administrators.
