Job summary
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer responsible for undertaking planned and reactive maintenance of complex mechanical control systems across the diverse building services of the Trust estate.
The role is based at Watford General Hospital, however there may be occasions when the role will be required to travel across the other sites.
They will have the ability to analyse complex faults and undertake rectifications to ensure continuity of service.
They will be able to prioritise their workloads, identify potential improvement to operational system and management processes in order to increase departmental efficiencies.
The job:
- May involve shift working and planned overtime.
- Will involve on-call responsibilities - you would need to be on site within 1 hour of call out
All staff required to undertake on-call commitments must be able to make their own way to and from the required locations.
Main duties of the job
o Undertake complex trade tasks within your specialist area in support of the Team's overall output.o In support of the other supervisor ensures the day to day efficient and safe working of all engineering plant on site.o To attend to plant breakdowns to carry out repairs and restore the units to service as quickly and efficiently as possible.o To be in attendance and carry out preparation work to facilitate inspections carried out by the Trust's pressure vessel insurers.o To activate changeover of plant and or its safe isolation in the event of a malfunction or breakdown.o To be able to work on all types of air-conditioning plant.o Be fully conversant with all types of belt drives, pulleys and direct drive couplings.o Be fully conversant with all types of pumps.o To be able to work on oil free medical and control air reciprocating compressors and vacuum plant.o To be able to carry out minor installation work of all types of pipe work.o Experienced in hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.o Is conversant with H.T.H.W. M.T.H.W. L.P.H.W. and Steam Heating Systems. June 2016To be able to carry out minor electrical work such as isolation/connection/disconnection of electrical supplies to all forms of mechanical plant.
