Job summary

Full time applicants are invited to apply for 2 x Consultant posts in Respiratory Medicine based at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. These are 10 PA posts for a substantive consultant in Respiratory with a subspeciality interest in Lung cancer and interventional Bronchoscopy/EBUS.

Applicants must have MRCP or equivalent. Full registration with the GMC with a license to practice. On Specialist register in Respiratory Medicine (or within 6 months at the time of interview). On specialist register for GIM.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be based at Watford General and Hemel Hempstead hospitals. They will work with the respiratory consultant body to provide a highly effective respiratory service for patients, local general medical practitioners, and hospital colleagues.

In-patient respiratory services are based on the acute site at Watford General Hospital. Respiratory inpatients are managed on AAU level 3 Blue and Yellow (26 beds) including 8 bedded Acute Respiratory Care Unit (ARCU) to manage patients requiring NIV.

The post holder will contribute to :

  1. Post 1 - Lung Cancer, Interventional Bronchoscopy/EBUS, Pleural diseases and Sleep clinic
  2. Post 2 - Lung Cancer, Interventional Bronchoscopy/EBUS, Pleural diseases and ILD clinic.

The successful post holder's will also be expected to contribute to the weekend on call respiratory consultant rota which currently involves a 4.5 hour morning ward round on both Saturday and Sunday, as well as a weekday and weekend NIV telephone advice service provided by the respiratory consultant team
