Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a subject matter expert in Cancer and Palliative Care who is passionate and dedicated to improving Cancer performance. We are looking for a highly skilled leader who will drive change, service transformation and innovation, managing and responding to changing local and national priorities.
Improving our Cancer Performance is a key priority and this role is pivotal to supporting the organisation in delivering the national planning guidance and adherence to cancer waiting time standards.
To succeed in the role, you must have experience of Cancer services and experience of improving clinical and non clinical pathways, managing change and an ability to engage and motivate a wide range of staff. You should have experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams and working across organisational boundaries. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and have the ability to meet tight deadlines with consistency and rigour.
Main duties of the job
Working cross divisionally and closely with the senior management teams, you will support the development of recovery and improvement plans, overseeing and supporting the delivery of said plans within an improvement framework. You will have operational responsibility for Palliative Care Services across the Trust as well as the growing portfolio of services that sit within the cancer services directorate umbrella. This currently includes; Acute Oncology Service, Non Specific Symptoms Service, Psychology Service
As part of an ICS wide exercise, the Trust is participating in the procurement of an ICS wide Cancer Management System. This role will support the implementation and roll out of this system once this exercise is concluded, and will play a key role in managing the operational element of the roll out. This role will also involve working with the BI team to ensure adherence to external reporting requirements and to develop and embed further reporting tools to aid recovery and improvement.
The post holder will proactively drive the strategic agenda for Cancer and Palliative Care, maintaining close working relationships with external partners and representing the organisation in local and regional meetings.
As a visible leader, you will work across sites and will regularly spend time within the clinical environment. As a subject matter expert, you will share best practice, act as a professional role model and increase capabilities within the team.
