Job summary
Locum Consultant Care of the Elderly (Geriatrician)
We are seeking to recruit a dynamic and innovative colleague to join an established care of elderly Consultant team within a busy district general hospital environment. The main components of the role are supervising in- patient clinical management of older adults and providing leadership and support to a community-based rehabilitation ward.
We have embraced the new virtual way of working with daily virtual hospital review for patients suffering with frailty, we work closely with our community colleagues to help with admission avoidance with regular rapid response sessions and community MDT's.
The successful post holder will contribute to this continuous relationship by having regular scheduled sessions in the community, and with have the opportunity to have a speciality interest during the week. We welcome applicants with specific special areas of interest even if these are outside this job specification and applicants who may choose to work a contracted working week.
We are a busy department with multiple opportunities to be involved with management and service development.

It is also expected that the successful applicant will be part of GIM and duty Geriatrician on call duties.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have responsibility for a 18 bed general care of elderly ward and take part in a geriatrician of the day on call from 13:00-21:00 working 1 day (negotiable mon-thu) every three weeks.
The following provides an example of scheduling details for the clinical activities and clinically related activity components of the job plan, which occur at regular times in the week.
Agreement should be reached between the appointee and their Clinical Lead with regard to the scheduling of all other activities, including the Supporting Professional Activities. Patient admin time will be incorporated with clinical time.
