Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit a dynamic Consultant Respiratory Physician - with a specialist interest in Interstitial Lung Disease, Acute Ventilation and Sleep medicine.

The successful applicant will be based at Watford General and Hemel Hempstead hospitals.

They will work with the respiratory consultant body to provide a highly effective respiratory service for patients, local general medical practitioners, and hospital colleagues.

Duties of the post will include commitments to the Acute Respiratory Care unit (8 beds), General Respiratory Ward (18 beds) and General Medical take.

Main duties of the job

The job plan will include clinics and MDT in Interstitial Lung Diseases (2 per week) and Sleep medicine as well as 1 general respiratory medicine clinic and a triage session.

The post holder will also take on the lead role for the Acute Respiratory Care unit, working with the lead nurse and NIV practitioner to run the trust NIV service.

There will be a commitment to the ward (1/10) and out of hours respiratory rota (1/12 off site 24/7 and 1/12 weekends on site 9-3). There will also be a 1 in 14 (M-Thu only) commitment to the General Medicine on call rota (Physician of the Day).
