Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our rotation at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are looking for an experienced band 5 or an existing band 6 looking to build on their skills.Please Note That NHS Experience Is Essential.

Our rotational Band 6 physiotherapy scheme offers rotations through both inpatients and outpatients.

This is a fixed term, full time, 6 month role. The vacancy on the rotation arising in the musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy Team, based at the West Hertfordshire Therapy Unit in Jacketts Field, Abbots Langley.

During this fixed term 6 month role, in MSK, the successful candidate will be supported by a Therapy Team Lead as well as Band 8/Band 7 clinical Physiotherapists through a well-established competency, supervision and appraisal process. Our Band 6 tier provide robust peer support. We also offer in-service training opportunities and experience may be gained in the supervision of Band 5 Physiotherapists/other junior staff members as well as Physiotherapy students.

Main duties of the job

In this specific part of our rotation in the MSK team you will provide specialised assessment and treatment (virtually or face to face) for patients with complex musculoskeletal needs, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

You will provide expert advice, guidance and information to patients, health and social care professionals, carers and relatives and other non professionals.

You will communicate with relevant medical and nursing staff, social workers, and other health care professionals, patients relatives and carers in order to facilitate a team approach to the provision of patient care.

You may be responsible for supervision, education and assessment of more junior physiotherapists, assistants and clerical staff. But this may be more limited due to the 6 month fixed term nature of the role.

You additionally may, supervise, educate and assess physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

You will undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to develop and enhance personal and team clinical practice. Make suggestions to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team. Will assist in the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.

You will participate in virtual consultation model, when required.
