Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a full time Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecologist, with a Special Interest in Fertility, to come and join our team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is an excellent opportunity to further develop in Obstetrics and General Gynaecology Surgical skills.
The successful applicant will join a friendly and collaborative team with the current medical establishment providing shared recourses between the Divisions Obstetrics and Gynaecology services, supporting a wide range of support spanning outpatients, day cases to emergency care.
The Trust have agreed a proposal for up to 1PA of SPA time/week to be worked flexibly.
This change is in line with the Trusts' flexible working agenda and recognition of the enormous contribution that this group of staff continue to provide to our staff and patients.
- Successful candidates will be also eligible for a relocation allowance of up to £12,000 (if required)

Main duties of the job
West Hertfordshire NHS Hospitals' Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to augment the current consultant obstetrics and gynaecology team. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop in Obstetrics and General Gynaecology Surgical skills. Experience, or special interest in fertility is essential.
The appointee will be an experienced and suitably qualified Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and will work with consultants within the department to provide a full elective and emergency obstetrics and gynaecology services to women attending the hospital.
The successful candidate will contribute fully to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology workload of the department, including Delivery Suite sessions, emergency gynaecology sessions, elective gynaecology lists, fertility clinics, an on-call commitment, and will take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate education. A demonstrable track record and commitment to research is desirable.
The appointee's Job Plan may be subject to change by mutual agreement with the Clinical Director, Women's Services. The post is based across three sites and also will be working closely, within the community setting, in the Enhanced Gynecology Community Services. and is based on a ten session Programmed Activities (10 PA) contract. Additional responsibilities agreed with successful candidates will attract an additional responsibility allowance.
