Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Deputy Director to lead our operational Estates and Hard FM teams. You will have a proven track record of getting results and making improvements in a busy acute hospital setting.

Managing and overseeing the delivery of in-house provided estates and maintenance services along with outsourced specialist contractors, you will be needed to show leadership and help drive transformation and improvements.

The trust has recently been awarded significant funding through the New Hospital Programme to build a brand-new hospital on the Watford site. Our vision is when the new hospital opens in around 2030 it will be the best hospital in the country, it will therefore need the best Estates and Facilities team to help run it.

Your role will be to help take the Environment Division from where it is now to where it needs to be to deliver the vision for the new hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will possess specialised estates knowledge and expertise and will provide expert advice, and leadership to the teams, with a particular focus in Estates maintenance and improving services.

The role will require the post holder to:-

  • Provide effective leadership for the efficient running of the Estates services.
  • Support the achievement of recurrent financial balance.
  • Meet all national and local services delivery targets.
  • Manage the current estates and support capital projects to ensure that all areas are delivering best practice.
  • Develop robust and effective partnerships with other divisions and directorates.
  • Contribute to delivery of the Trust's strategic objectives and business drivers with particular focus to the delivery against the transformation programme.
  • Ensure Trust is compliant with all statutory and technical standards under the post holder's control.
  • Leadership of the estates team, taking responsibility for all aspects of management and personal development.
  • Support on the New Hospital Development as required
