Job summary
The MDO Manager Job Planning Lead post sits within the MDO Office and offers an opportunity to join a strong and friendly team.
The postholder will work alongside the MDO Manager - Medical Appraisal & Revalidation Lead to provide support to the Chief Medical Officer in carrying out their Responsible Officer role.
The consultant job plan has been in use since 1991 and forms a fundamental part of the 2003 consultant contract. There are approx. 324 consultants at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust and each is required to produce a job plan annually.
As a minimum, job plans must set out a weekly timetable indicating when consultants are undertaking specific activities both for the Trust and within a private capacity.
The post holder will report to the Senior Business Manager and manage consultant job planning including the submission and validation of job plans, refining and implementing governance processes for job planning and reporting on job planning performance (including to external bodies).
This is a full time post
Main duties of the job
Manage consultant job planning across the Trust
Operate job planning within an annual planning cycle
Maintain and implement appropriate validation protocols
Ensure payroll and Medical Staffing are informed of any job plan variations leading to a change in salary
Administer the job plan appeal process
Lead on job planning training
Provide regular performance reports at a local and national level and lead on job planning at internal performance meetings
Manage the online support tool
Support the production of the annual Board Assurance Framework for seven day clinical standards
The post holder will also:
Provide short term cover for medical appraisal and revalidation when necessary
Facilitate requests from the GMC regarding Fitness to Practice referrals on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer
Administer the Clinical Decision Panel on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer
Skills needed include:
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Advanced written and oral communication skills
Ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex data and distil into report format
Ability to present and communicate complex data in a way that aids decision making
Ability to lead on individual projects which could potentially have a wider impact within the organisation
