Job summary

West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust are inviting applications to join the Respiratory Team as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. We are looking for 2 motivated and enthusiastic consultants to join The Respiratory Team at West Herts who won the BMJ 2021 Respiratory Team of the Year Award. Main duties of the job

The posts have been approved following the ongoing expansion and reconfiguration of the department of Thoracic Medicine at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The appointees will join the team delivering in-patient, out-patient and bronchoscopy services.

There are subspecialty clinics for interstitial lung disease TB, lung cancer and pleural disease, as well as for sleep, domiciliary ventilation, COPD, asthma and bronchiectasis in collaboration with our community partner, Central London Community Healthcare Trust. There is an acute interventional programme with EBUS and medical thoracoscopy. There is, in addition, the full range of lung function testing including cardio-pulmonary exercise testing. We have recently expanded our ARCU with an emphasis on level 2 medical HDU support. We are proud to have a Nationally high-profile Covid Virtual Hospital and we are expanding this to include COPD Virtual Hospital in the coming months.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the weekday General Internal Medicine (G(I)M) on call rota. By substitution the chest physicians have dropped G(I)M on call commitments at weekends for a specialist respiratory rota (Saturday/Sunday mornings/ 1in 10).
