Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in MSK and Gastrointestinal imaging to join this friendly department.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to jointly support the Lower GI MDT and to attend Orthopaedic and Rheumatology meetings.

The post will be based at Watford General Hospital, though some MSK ultrasound lists will be at either St Albans City Hospital or Hemel Hempstead General Hospitals.

All three sites are well equipped with Imaging equipment and there are advanced plains to increase Imaging equipment and workforce at all 3 sites,

The Trust is committed to the training and development of trainee Radiologists and has recently supported an increase in trainee numbers.

All Consultant Radiologists are supplied with a Laptop and workstation to facilitate home reporting.

Out of hours CT reporting is outsourced to a Teleradiology company

Main duties of the job

The post involves a commitment to general radiology, musculoskeletal radiology (including image-guided (US, fluoroscopic and CT) injections and GI radiology (including complex abdominal and pelvic MRI and CT virtual colonoscopy).

The post-holder would be expected to support the Lower GI MDT and orthopaedic meetings.

The position would also involve a commitment to the AAU Radiology rota. A dedicated 5 hour session per week is currently allocated to this with occasional additional filler sessions. On-call commitments involve a 1 in 21 weekend rota with a requirement to be on site at the weekend/bank holidays between 08:30 and 15:30. Out of these hours CT reporting is out-sourced to an external provider, the on-call Radiologist being available in case of a PACS failure and for emergency ultrasound examinations.
