WHHT has taken the decision to invest in Emergency Medicine, leading to the creation of new consultant posts. This includes a post in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
The Successful applicant will be working as part of well-integrated consultant team and will be given the opportunity to develop a job plan which will allow work-life balance to be maintained.
The Department consists of 11 EM Consultants and 3 consultants with Paediatric specialty interest. The advertised post is one of the Paediatric specialty interest posts, and would be suitable for both EM (RCEM) PEM Consultants or Paediatric (RCPCH) PEM consultants.
This post is offered as full-time 10 PA appointments although applicants who, for domestic, personal, or other reasons require LTFT working are also invited to apply.
The pattern of work will cover duties on a shift basis including weekends.

Main duties of the job
Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
The post holder will provide shop floor support to CED and the Paediatric Assessment Unit, supporting the care of the ED stream of patients as well as Childrens Resus, Paediatric GP heralded patients, Open Access complex Paediatric patients, and patients referred to the Paediatric team.
The successful candidate would be expected to work in CED and PAU, with a mixture of day shifts, evenings and weekends.
The Division places a strong emphasis on Consultant shop-floor presence in CED and PAU.
The post holder will undertake administrative duties as required associated with the care of patients and the running of the department. He/she will be expected to attend and contribute to the Clinical Governance and other meetings of the Emergency Medicine Division.
The post holder will be expected to be involved in the management of junior medical staff including acting as clinical and / or educational supervisor to some of the junior medical staff and assisting and guiding their professional development.
