Pharmacy Assistant - Band 2 progressing to Band 3 after 2 years and upon successful completion of NVQ level 2.

Full-time position (37.5hrs per week) Main Pharmacy - Maidstone Hospital

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time pharmacy assistant to join our team in our main pharmacy dispensary at Maidstone Hospital.

We are looking for someone motivated, enthusiastic, and who can understand our patients' needs to deliver an excellent Pharmacy service.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with our other Pharmacy staff to provide a Pharmacy service to the hospital and its patients. Your role will be essential to provide excellent customer care to all our patients, relatives, and hospital staff.

You will be an essential member of our dispensary team in ensuring our patients' needs are met promptly by dispensing medicines. It will also involve answering queries and taking telephone calls from staff and patients, welcoming patients at our outpatient reception, receiving and booking in prescriptions, and communicating with patients, relatives, and staff. The successful candidate will receive full training in all aspects of the job, including completing an NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services. Previous experience in the hospital would be helpful, but not essential, although you must have experience in a customer service setting.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as a positive and open manner. Patient interaction is integral to this position in our busy dispensary, so an ability to manage these interactions calmly is required. You should also be patient, empathic, have excellent organisational skills, and be able to work as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
