Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Medicine and Emergency Care division for the role of a Deputy General Manager as a secondment for 12 months.

The post holder will be an operational lead for Medical Specialties working in conjunction with the Specialities Management Team, the Clinical Leads and AGM's. This role will be responsible for the line management of the AGM team and will be expected to spend equal time on both the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells sites in rotation with the General Manager and operational team.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with the General Manager to provide leadership to the Directorate; developing, managing and delivering high quality responsive and effective services in line with the Trust's strategic direction.

In addition to the day-to-day management of the services, key responsibilities include taking a lead role in delivering the following performance areas: -

  • Patient access targets
  • Budgets and finance management.
  • Leave planning and monitoring of all admin & clerical, technical and consultant medical staff.
  • Service reconfiguration, redesign and improvement using externally provided data (GIRFT, Model Hospital etc)
  • Staff engagement, communication and workforce planning
