Job summary
Due to expansion of services, Radiation Physics are looking for a Clinical Scientist to join the team with experience in diagnostic radiology. Previous experience of mammography physics would be advantageous.
The Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Safety Sections ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and staff who come into contact with sealed or unsealed sources of ionising radiation (e.g. x-rays, beta rays etc) and non-ionising radiation (e.g. ultrasound, lasers etc.)
Main duties of the job
You will provide scientific support to the Trust and our external customers. You will be involved in provision of mammography physics to NHSBSP services in Kent and symptomatic units elsewhere across the South East.
A wide range of safety activities are provided by physicists and technical staff. These include: radiology equipment checks and quality control of diagnostic x-ray machines; laser safety advice; the provision and updating of local rules; the organisation of a personal dose monitoring service for all staff likely to be exposed to ionising radiations in the course of their work throughout Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust and other Trusts as necessary; instrument calibration service; radioactive waste management; and training courses. Staff also advise on the application of relevant legislation and develop processes and procedures to ensure Trust departments comply.
