Job summary

The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS trust currently care for approximately 500,000 people in the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells area. The Trust operates from two primary sites; our new state of the art Tunbridge Wells Hospital, the first all single room NHS hospital in England, and Maidstone Hospital.

The Cancer Centre treats over 7,000 new patients a year from Kent and East Sussex. The Centre is highly regarded fortheexcellent care it provides. The centre also houses a busy research centre which is recognised for its work with major pharmaceutical companies in conducting vital research to support the development of new cancer treatments.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered chemotherapy nurse, or experienced band 5 staff nurse wishing to become chemo competent by undertaking SACT training, to join our well established Cancer Nursing Team. You will work within the team to provide outstanding clinical support and care for patients under the care of the Oncology/Haematology Department. Patients are offered expert clinical care which is compassionate and individualised

You should possess excellent clinical, communication and organisational skills and be prepared to professionally develop to meet the needs of the service. You should be visible and accessible with quality and standards as your priority. You will need to be flexible and resilient in order to cope with the demands of the role.

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

You will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
