Job summary

The CSF will work along side the ED PDN to develop and maintain high standards of evidence-based nursing through staff education and clinical practice. They will facilitate the development of service based educational programmes and act as a member of the senior nursing team demonstrating clinical expertise.

Main duties of the job

  • To work in accordance with the NMC: The Code: Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives and the MTW policies and procedures.
  • To ensure own practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge
  • To work clinically in all areas of ED on a regular, planned basis, supporting individual nursing staff in developing their practice.
  • To produce written accounts from each clinical facilitation.
  • In conjunction with the Practice Development Nurse, contribute towards S.M.A.R.T. goal setting if needed.
  • To work with the ED PDN to devise and deliver ED specific training such as Triage, ED specific induction, Trauma, band 5 development, minor injuries, Foundations of Emergency Care.
  • To work effectively as part of the multi-professional, encouraging and supporting other health care professionals in the promotion and maintenance of an effective learning environment.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
