Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join the Endoscopy team at Maidstone Hospital.

We are looking for a keen; reliable member of staff to join us in our busy, friendly Endoscopy department.

You will need to be able to communicate effectively and deliver a high standard of care in a time orientated process.

This will also require you to be flexible, hardworking and reliable.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Endoscopy Support Worker will participate, and support the members of the multi-disciplinary team, in delivering high quality patient care under the supervision of the Registered Practitioner. The main responsibility will be leading the daily decontamination team, ensuring the decontamination of the various endoscopes and other specialised endoscopic equipment (including maintenance and traceability) is performed as per Trust policy.

The role exists to provide a multi-skilled worker who undertakes a range of delegated duties under the indirect supervision of a Registered Practitioner.

Once your pre-employment checks have been completed you will be contacted by Recruitment to arrange your start date which will be in line with one of our Corporate Inductions.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if this is going to be problematic:rallen@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check atEnhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

  • The Care Certificate.
  • NVQ/QCF Diploma level 3 in Healthcare or successful completion of a level 3 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.
  • Functional skills English and maths level 2 or GCSE English and maths grades A*/9 - C/4.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Significant experience as an Endoscopy Support Worker in a care setting or acute hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers (2013).
