Main duties of the job

These vacancies are for 2-year fixed term contracts which will involve working towards achieving the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship standard. This includes in-service training within our Pharmacy departments, one day a week study time (undertaking an approved course or qualification) and will also include some working across all sectors but will be mainly based in the hospital setting.

On completion of the apprenticeship programme which includes an End Point Assessment (EPA), the successful candidate will be able to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.

The PTPT role involves training whilst working supervised and rotating through all of our Pharmacies covering the main services provided by all of our Pharmacies e.g. Dispensary, Stores, Distribution, Procurement and Clinical services. You may have the opportunity to visit other areas of Pharmacy during the second year of the training period.

After completion of essential training, to ensure competence, you will be required to participate in a weekend and bank holiday rota.

You will receive full training within the Pharmacy. We place a high priority on personal development and will give you the support you need to obtain your qualification. An allocated study time at work will be made available; however, you must also be willing to commit to significant study in your own time.
