Join Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust as a Trust Secretary and play a pivotal role at the heart of our organisation. You'll be instrumental in supporting our Chief Executive, Chair, and Directors, ensuring effective leadership and management. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance, enabling our Trust Board to fulfil its duties efficiently and effectively.
As Trust Secretary, you'll provide expert committee secretariat and governance support, combining strong technical knowledge with sound judgement in complex situations. You will guide executive and hospital site management teams to establish robust corporate governance arrangements.
Main duties of the job
- Advise and support the Chief Executive and Chair on governance matters.
- Manage Board, sub-committee, and senior management team meetings, ensuring smooth operation and effectiveness.
- Implement development programs for the Board of Directors to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Lead the Corporate Governance agenda, ensuring compliance with legal, constitutional, and regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Manage registration and reporting requirements with regulatory bodies.
- Oversee insurance matters to ensure adequate coverage for the Trust.
- Ensure Trust Board compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and the Code of Governance.
- Develop relationships with senior staff, regulators, the public, and external stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of high performance by building strong relationships across the Board.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.
The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 760,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.
The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.
