We have an exciting opportunity within our Nurse led Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic (RACPC).
Applications are invited for an experienced cardiac nurse to join our dynamic cardiac nurse specialist team. This post is an ideal opportunity for an experienced cardiac nurse / CNS with experience of working independently in RACPCs or in similar roles.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that referrals are triaged promptly and arrangements are made to see appropriate patients within tight timescales. This will involve the need to work fluidly and flexibly. The post holder will independently undertake a holistic assessment for each patient (to include history taking, medicines assessment and physical assessment). The post holder will make a diagnosis, arrange appropriate investigations and will arrange follow up, liaising with the consultant cardiologists as required.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please emailmtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check atEnhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

- RGN with current NMC registration
- Teaching and Assessment/mentoring course
- Nursing Degree/ Masters (or working towards this within agreed timescale)
- Degree/Masters modules relevant to the role
- Physical Assessment module - cardio/respiratory (CARA) or general at degree or masters level
- Immediate Life Support course
- Nurse independent prescriber (or working towards this within an agreed timescale)
- IR(ME)R approved (or working towards this within agreed timescale)
Desirable
- Counselling course
- Advanced Life Support provider
Experience/Knowledge
Essential
- 5 years post registration experience
- 3 years at band 6 or above within a relevant cardiology environment
- Previous role where independent patient medical history taking was undertaken
- Previous role where independent patient physical assessment was undertaken
- Previous role where independent diagnoses are made.
- Knowledge of current research relating to this area of practice
- Knowledge of NICE guidelines relevant to the role
