Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Discharge Lounge at both Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone Hospital. We are currently looking for a Healthcare Support Worker who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is passionate about providing high standards of care for our patients while they wait in one of our lounges for their discharge to be completed.
We are a small friendly team with a proactive approach to ensuring patients leave our hospital setting as safely as possible with the relevant discharge documents and medications.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Healthcare Support Worker in the discharge lounge is to provide holistic care to each patient while in the lounge, while providing support in collecting patients from the inpatient areas to the lounge.
The Healthcare Support Worker will work under the supervision of the registered nurse and provide support with ensuring safe discharges with both a proactive and positive attitude.
The clinical support worker will be supporting the register nurses in the lounge by moving cannulas if needed - returning electronic tags back to inpatient areas and ensuring that patient remain safe and comfortable while in the lounge.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts Clinical Induction Programme for Clinical Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead ifthis is going to be problematic: rallen@nhs.net), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes 2 supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm.
