Job summary

The Orthoptic and Optometry department at Maidstone Hospital are looking for a new team members to work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (8.30-4.45 22.5 hours) Please note there will be occasional Saturday working (around two a year)The working week will not exceed 22.5 hours and day off in lieu will be granted,

We are a busy department in a clinical outpatient area so you need to be able to multi-task and deal with both patient and clinicians daily.

You must be friendly, enthusiastic and motivated with a positive attitude.

Main duties of the job

The Orthoptic and Optometry multi-skilled clerical team combine the roles of receptionist and clinical administration booker.

We work with the wider ophthalmology unit daily across the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells sites. The role will include but not inclusive to:

  • Daily computer use including PAS, ERS, Hybrid Mail, HeXIO
  • Managing and booking waiting lists
  • To recept and co-ordinating daily running of clinics
  • Phone and e-mail queries

You must therefore be efficient and organised with excellent communication skills, be calm under pressure, be able to deal with frequent interruptions and be flexible to the needs of the Orthoptic service.
