Job summary

MTW are offering you the opportunity to join our Continuity Team Phoenix Midwifery (young parents) in delivering this exciting mandate which ensures the best outcomes for the women and babies we care for.

We are seeking passionate midwives to provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for this vulnerable group which supports women's choices and latest evidence. You will work closely in partnership with women, families and colleagues to provide midwifery care within a continuity model in a variety of settings including the midwife-led birth centre at Maidstone/Crowborough, the main Obstetric Unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital and women's homes. In line with the continuity model you will be required to work flexibly involving weekend work and on-call cover.

Phoenix Midwifery launched in February 2021 and delivers care to women under 21 years of age across the whole geographical patch of MTW trust.

Main duties of the job

You will join a committed and experienced team of midwives who work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team and you will also have opportunities to be actively involved in numerous projects which are shaping our services for the future.

Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust delivers maternity care to 6000 women per year in our Birth Centres at Maidstone & Crowborough, at homebirths with our Community Midwives, as well as the obstetric unit at Tunbridge Wells, Pembury.

Normality is promoted in all clinical areas, and we have an above average rate of out of hospital deliveries.

We currently have a 12 month fixed term contract available - anticipated start date = January 2024

For all Band 6 vacancies you will need to have completed a preceptorship programme and have achieved midwifery competencies such as cannulation, water birth and suturing.
