Job summary
The appointment is to the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. Duties will be at either Maidstone Hospital and/or Tunbridge Wells Hospital depending on clinical need. Where possible the job plan will avoid travelling between sites on the same day. The post will provide outpatient services and inpatient ward referrals but at present is not part of an on call rota. There will be CPD sessions at King's College Hospital (currently these may optionally be attended virtually).
We will consider appointing to either the Specialist Doctor or Specialty Doctor grade, depending on prior experience. We will provide clinical supervision by another consultant, as appropriate. This is a fixed term post created to address our waiting list. If the Trust wishes to create a substantive long term post, a further application process would be required.
The appointee will work with the ten other neurologists at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells. Neurology is part of the Medical Specialties Directorate.
Main duties of the job
The neurologist will work at Maidstone and/or Tunbridge Wells Hospitals on Monday - Friday, and at King's College Hospital (KCH) on a Friday morning (currently KCH sessions may optionally be attended virtually)
This is a full time job (10 PA = 8 PA DCC + 2 PA SPA), which includes up to 0.5 PA (2 hours per week) of paid travel time, from home to King's. We will consider applicants who wish to work less than full time.
Clinic templates follow ABN recommendations of 30 minutes per new patient and 15 minutes per follow up in general neurology clinics, and longer in specialist clinics. All clinics are general neurology, but we would encourage up to one clinic per week to be changed to an appropriate subspecialty clinic. In particular we would be interested in appointing a candidate with an interest in epilepsy, but the job is open to candidates with other specialist interests.
