Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Biomedical Scientist . We are looking for a graduate with an IBMS accredited BMS degree at a 2:1 or predicted grade at this level to become part of the busy, professional and friendly team within the Microbiology department at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW). We will offer training to facilitate completion of the IBMS Registration Portfolio and attainment of HCPC registration. Ideally the successful candidate would then progress to IBMS Specialist portfolio training and transition to Agenda for Change Band 6 on completion.
Main duties of the job
We offer a comprehensive package of microbiology services including: bacteriology, mycology, enterics culture and PCR, TB, Respiratory PCR and serology including infectious diseases in pregnancy screening

Applications will be considered from Biomedical Science graduates with IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degrees or equivalent qualification pre - approved by the IBMS (approval letter to be supplied at interview) who are interested in an opportunity to work towards completion of an IBMS Registration Portfolio to gain HCPC Registration. Anyone newly appointed will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period. You will receive appropriate training and support while rotating through laboratory sections and disciplines within Pathology.Trainee Biomedical Scientist is initially graded as Agenda for Change Band 5 Annex 21, but the expectation is that you will progress to B6 level with support to complete the IBMS Specialist portfolio in microbiology
