Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic applicant for a new Consultant post in Integrated Sexual Health and HIV. We are offering a minimum of 2 PAs to a maximum of 8 PAs per week.

We are looking for a motivated applicant to work alongside a dynamic team of sexual health professionals and to contribute to the clinical leadership of the service and support developments for the diverse local population.

We are looking for an applicant who wants to develop innovative ways to provide sexual health care and collaborate with our experienced and flexible team.

The Directorate of Integrated Sexual Health is currently delivered at four sites. Larger services are based at Maidstone Hospital (Rubin Clinic) and Gravesham Community Hospital (Riverside Clinic), and additional clinics are at Dartford and Tunbridge Wells.

This post will be based at Maidstone Hospital, but the post holder will need to be willing to work flexibly at any site if service changes are required.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a case load of patients and supporting nurse led clinics. The successful applicant will also be expected to provide safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults attending the service.

The current proposed timetable is for 8 PAs Tuesday to Friday, but can be amended depending on the number of PAs applied for. The post should expect to work a mixture of booked complex clinics and walk-in services. Saturday services are currently being restored and will be required as part of this post, but would be no more than once per calendar month.

We deliver integrated sexual health services in West and North Kent and work in partnership with local providers to deliver a quality driven, patient centred service. Our team also deliver an on-line STI testing service for all of Kent (SHUK) and have a dedicated outreach sexual health team.

The Trust provides general hospital services to a population of approximately 460,000, and some specialist services to a considerably larger population. Its major hospitals are Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury and Maidstone Hospital. The Trust's Headquarters are at Maidstone Hospital. The Trust's Chairman is Mr David Highton, the Chief Executive is Mr Miles Scott and the Medical Director is Dr Peter Maskell.
