Job summary

We are looking for a Support Medical Secretary to work with our admin team and support the Anaesthetic and Pain Clinic departments.

Main duties of the job

You will be working in a busy department which generates a high volume of typing and administration. You will require excellent interpersonal skills and able to deal with enquiries in a polite and efficient manner.

The role involves the booking ofprocedures, outpatient appointments, answering telephone calls and monitoring waiting lists in line with Trust policy, booking patients in chronological order.

You will be IT literate, able to meet deadlines and have an attention to detail. Knowledge of PAS and ERS would be highly desirable but are not essential, as training will be provided. You must be methodical and organised in your approach and thrive on the opportunity to make a genuine difference.

Act as a contact point, liaising with patients, as well as clinical colleagues to ensure that the organisation & efficiency of patients' pathway are appropriately planned and managed.

About us

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.

We employ over 6,500 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.
