Job summary
We have a vacancy for a one year fixed term contract or secondment for a full time Ophthalmic technician at Maidstone Hospital.
At Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust we are the largest Ophthalmic unit in the South East outside of London, with departments across three hospital sites.
We are continually developing and expanding our service and need a technician to support our busy technician and photography teams in outpatients and on the Day Surgery ward.
We currently work over a six day week so some weekend working is required.
Main duties of the job
The main responsibilities of the role are to support the technician, photography and nursing teams with the OCT clinic, Visual Fields testing and to assist/learn Biometry for patients having cataract surgery. Technicians work closely with the multidisciplinary team where attention to detail is essential to maintain high standards .
IT skills are required to operate equipment, good communication skills and an ability to prioritise and work under pressure on own initiative but also as part of a team.
Previous experience in Ophthalmic clinics will be beneficial and ideal for someone looking to develop their skills and their responsibilities.
