An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Directorate at Maidstone Hospital. Kent & Medway Orthopaedic Centre (KMOC) is a brand-new purpose built, large single-story building in the grounds of Maidstone Hospital in Kent, designed to deliver Elective Orthopaedic surgery to all patients from all across Kent & Medway and is due to open in March 2024.
KMOC is currently looking to recruit Registered Nursing Associates who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as being organised with a positive attitude, as well as being flexible and proactive. You must be dedicated and passionate about providing the best possible care for our patients and will share our vision and values in best practice.
The centre will operate 6 days a week and will provide planned orthopaedic surgery for arthritic conditions and soft tissue injuries affecting the bones and joints
The Directorate promotes evidence based high standards of patient care and with the support of the Orthopaedic Practice Development Team we are always looking for new initiatives to improve patient experiences and outcomes. Professional development is paramount and all staff are encouraged to fulfil their potential and you will have ample opportunity to learn and develop yourself within your role, including the opportunity to complete the 2 year top up programme to qualify as a RN.
We are looking to appoint with a start date in November 2023.
Main duties of the job
You must be able to look after patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse with minimal supervision and be confident to assist the Registered Nurse to plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care to ensure person centered care is delivered to each patient.
You must be able to carry out the relevant care without direct supervision and assist with teaching and supervising Student Nurses and Clinical Support Workers.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
