Due to a reconfiguration of services as part of the Trusts restart program an opportunity has arisen to work within our Short stay Surgical Unit at Maidstone Hospital
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic nurses who want to be part of a large highly skilled multi-disciplinary team delivering a high standard of care. You must be flexible, approachable, compassionate, motivated, and hardworking and be able to use your own initiative whilst also having the ability to work under pressure. Post-registration experience in a surgical /acute setting is desirable.
Main duties of the job
The short stay surgical unit working alongside our surgical admissions lounge is a, fast turnover unit providing care to patients undergoing day surgery , covering all specialities: ENT, Orthopaedics, gynae and general surgery
You will be responsible for coordinating patient care on the wards, completing thorough nursing assessments, patient feedback surveys, participating in audits, supervising Trainee Apprentices, Trainee CSW's, and students and acting as a role model; as well as supporting the ward manager with length of stay and delivering and improving the quality of care on the wards. You will be working closely with a large multidisciplinary team; good communication skills are essential to ensure the patient's journey from admission to discharge is smooth and efficient.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)
