Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time time MDM Assistant/Clerical Support position within Cellular Pathology.

You must have a flexible approach to the needs of the service and demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills, a good telephone manner. You should have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner.

Maidstone Hospital, situated in the heart of the Kent countryside, covers a large population and includes the regional Oncology Centre which supports of the Kent cancer network. The Histology department provides diagnostic services for Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trusts, Medway NHS Foundation Trust and Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust. Consequently, there is a combined Histology workload of around 70,000 cases per year. The department carries out a wide range of investigations including various specialist resections from hospitals within the Kent & Medway Pathology network.

Main duties of the job

You will provide support to all multidisciplinary team meetings (MDMs) that the Histology department participates in. The primary purpose of the role is the organisation and collation of diagnostic slides, reports and any other relevant materials required for the MDM. The post holder will therefore be working in close liaison with MDM coordinators as well as departmental Consultants.

This role requires excellent time management, organisational and communication skills and an adaptable, flexible approach to produce work.

Those without the full qualification/experience requirement will be considered for appointment but under an apprenticeship and candidates not meeting the qualification requirement for this post will be expected to complete a Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship programme.

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team, gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

Please Note: Government funded apprentices must be aged 16 or above and have been resident in the UK/EU for the last 3 years. You may possess a Degree, Level 4 qualification or above as long as it is in a subject significantly different to this qualification. You must not already be in any form of formal government-funded education.
