Job summary

The Intensive Care and High Dependency Units at Tunbridge Wells Hospitalare excited to announce they are recruiting Band 3 - Senior Health Care Support Workers.

The Intensive Care department has a total of 17 modern and spacious single rooms, with 9 Intensive Care beds and 8 High Dependency beds.

You should be highly motivated, have good communication and interpersonal skills, be committed to ongoing personal and professional development and have the ability to work collaboratively as part of the Multidisciplinary Team.

Main duties of the job

Within the Critical Care team, the Senior Health Care Support Worker will support the multidisciplinary team with clinical and non-clinical duties to provide high-quality patient-centred care. They will provide a range of delegated duties under the indirect supervision of a Registered Practitioner. They are key in working collaboratively with the Critical Care team in identifying and caring for the deteriorating patient and escalating concerns to the registered practitioner in a timely manner.

The post-holder will maintain good working relationships with the Critical Care and wider multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.

Following your Corporate Induction you will be expected to attend the Trusts 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email mtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.net if this is problematic)and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

  • NVQ/Diploma level 3 in Healthcare or an equivalent healthcare qualification (competencies must have been assessed in a healthcare environment).
  • Functional skills Maths level 2 or GCSE maths grades A*/9 - C/4.
  • Functional skills English level 2 or GCSE English grades A*/9 - C/4.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent experience as a Healthcare Support Worker/Trainee in a care setting or acute hospital setting.
