Diabetes Specialist Nurse

A unique opportunity to join the Diabetes Specialist Nursing Team at MTW . We are looking for an enthusiastic Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our growing team. An individual who is dynamic and motivated to make a difference.

Main duties of the job

Diabetes is a challenging environment, continually changing and adapting especially in the current global climate, we require someone with the skills and qualities to be able to be flexible to these changes to provide the highest quality of care to our patients.

We are focused on continual improvements to the standard and quality of diabetes care. The role will help the team achieve our quality goals. The successful candidate will have experience within Diabetes, with the ability to work independently to evidence based guidelines. Experience of inpatient diabetes, diabetes education delivery, nurse led clinics or clinical audits with outcomes in service improvements would be an advantage.

About us

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trusts core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients the first of its kind in the country.

We employ over 6,500 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.

  • Level 1 NMC Adult Registered Nurse
  • Diabetes Course (Degree, Diploma or Certificate) (If candidate has undertaken a diabetes secondment this will be accepted in replace of a diabetes course)

Desirable

  • Diabetes Diploma/Certificate
  • Mentorship qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Counselling qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Non-Medical Independent Prescriber/ Willingness to undertake.
  • Experience of managing diabetes in specialist clinics (renal, pregnancy / gestational/pump, YAC)

Experience amd Knowledge
