Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electronic Blood Track Assistant to work within the Blood Track and Traceability team based in the Transfusion department working across all three UHL sites.

You will work closely with both the Transfusion laboratory staff and clinical areas to provide support in the delivery of use of delivery of the traceability of blood components as required by the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations 2005.

The post involves the setting up, and maintenance of Electronic Blood Track(EBT) devices, and managing devices in the clinical area along with liaising with clinical areas to provide evidence of transfusion where this remains outstanding.

The successful candidate will be required to work Saturdays on an approximately 1 in 4 rota and will be expected to be flexible in support of the requirements of the team.

Following a period of induction the post holder will be based at either the Glenfield or Leicester General Hospital site.

You will need be resilient, have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the use of IT, with a good working knowledge of electronic devices.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Electronic Blood Track and Traceability Team providing an efficient and effective service including the setting up, and maintenance of Electronic Blood Track(EBT) devices, and managing devices in the clinical area.

Providing support to the Transfusion Team in the delivery of BSQR 2005 traceability requirements for transfusion, including the investigation and recording of the use of blood components in the clinical area.
