Job summary

Due to an internal progression, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who would like to join our Pharmacy Stores team in the Pharmacy Department at University Hospitals of Leicester. Applicants must have a can-do attitude and have excellent manual handling skills.

Main site of work would be Leicester Royal Infirmary but travel between Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield may be required

Main duties of the job

To receive all orders for pharmaceutical products, tomaintain effective stock control, storage,rotation and supply of pharmaceuticals to all units served bythe relevant Pharmacy department.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Record all batch numbers and expiry dates, input the data onto the pharmacy computer and put the stock away by the end of the working day to maintain the efficiency of the pharmacy stock system.

Ensure that all stock is rotated within pharmacy and that the oldest stock or stock with the shortest expiry is used first to minimise wastage.

Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the stores area and yard, disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in accordance with local policies in order to adhere to Trust and local health and safety procedures.

Maintain the availability, and label accordingly, the clinical and cardboard waste containers in order to comply with Trust policy.

Participate in the bonding of hazard recalled products in accordance with the hazard recall procedure.

Ensure all goods for return are labelled and documented in accordance with stores procedures to minimise wastage.

Maintain stores security and safe custody of pharmaceuticals ensuring that access is only given to authorised personnel.

Participate in the delivery/collection of pharmaceuticals to and from other departments within the hospital and within UHL to maximise a timely and accurate supply.

To ensure that unlicensed products are bonded appropriately and that all documentation is available for release of the product by a qualified person.

To participate in the training of staff, as appropriate, including pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists, technicians, student technicians and assistants.
