We are looking for anenthusiastic midwife who is interested in a dual post of clinical midwife and clinical midwifery lecturer.
The role will be part-time clinical midwife and part-time midwife lecturing at the University of Leicester (UoL). It is anticipated that the successful candidates will work the equivalent of 2 days per week at the University primarily supporting the theoretical and practical education of students studying at the University of Leicester, according to individual areas of knowledge and expertise.
To enable this role to compliment roles in clinical practice (where 12-hour shifts are worked) the 2 days per week will be worked flexibly across the calendar month.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a motivated midwife who is interested in educating and supporting our future midwives, assisting in delivering the four-year MSci Midwiferyprogramme, sharing fundamental midwifery knowledge and skills with students.
You will have been trained in (or working towards) the supervision and assessment of student midwives in clinical practice and hold a first degree as a minimum.
Knowledge and skills in leadership, systematic examination of the newborn infant, mental health relating to childbearing and pharmacology and non-medical prescribing would also be useful to the role (but not essential).
This role will give you the opportunity to work alongside exceptional clinical leaders and teams. You will be welcomed at UHL, and your personality, skills and experience will be embraced to support the provision of safe care and you will effectively introduce innovative ways of working.
You will be employed by UHL as per Agenda for Change and will be seconded to the University, working to an NHS contract.

- To deliver total care to mother and babies within the hospital environment as required to meet individual needs ensuring high standards of evidence based midwifery care at all times. As a teaching hospital we expect you to provide support both educationally and clinically to students and colleagues alike.
