We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Pharmacist with prior experience in Intensive Care medicine/theatres to join our friendly, forward thinking & expanding pharmacy AICU/theatre team at UHL.
Your time will be predominantly based on the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) Hospital with some flexible working across the 3 hospital sites all of which have an AICU/theatre bed base & offer a patient case mix that is very interesting, diverse & dynamic. Supported by a dedicated team of pharmacists and medicine management staff, the post holder will contribute to the continued provision and development of a high quality, comprehensive Clinical Pharmacy services to patients, senior managers and clinicians within the Critical Care Directorate. Within this role you will be supported by your Clinical lead Advanced Pharmacist Practitioner. Education and training to patients, staff, students and Doctors will be a part of the role.

The post will predominantly be based at one site (LRI) although there is a requirement to work flexibly across any site and travel across UHL as part of the role with a chance that the base site could change according to the needs of the service & in line with the upcoming reconfiguration plans. Candidates will be expected to participate in the departments on call, bank holiday, late night and weekend rotas.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will ensure that the risk associated with medication use in AICU patients & theatres is minimised and patient care and support is optimised. This is an exciting opportunity to support this clinical speciality, especially with the planned expansion at the LRI and GGH sites to 50 bedded units over coming years.
We deliver a high quality pharmacy service to our patient population and are involved in the following activities:o Pharmacy clinical services across 59 commissioned AICU beds, including participation on consultant-led ward rounds.o Medicines information enquiries and provision of expert pharmaceutical advice.o Clinical Medication reviews and support with policies & guidelines
- Pharmaceutical support to our renal population with choice of haemofiltration methods & associated anticoagulation methods
- Prescribing pharmacists
- Representation and an active role on the following AICU committees: ITU Core Group, Q&S, Board
- Pharmacy-led research and audit - supporting ongoing trials on the AICU
- Providing patients', pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals' education on medication related issues.
