Therapy Support Worker

Hours: Full Time -37.5 Hours
We have an exciting new position for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about rehabilitation in critical ill patients. You will join our established team of therapists at Glenfield Hospital intensive care unit, working collaborative with the MDT to get the best outcome for the patients. We are an expanding unit with a variety case of patients set in a learning environment with many exciting projects to come.
You will manage a caseload of complex patients in the intensive care unit by completing timely assessments of patients and develop individualized treatment plans to progress their mobility and rehabilitation.
You will develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of cardiac surgery and patients who receive Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. You will work closely with both physiotherapists and occupational therapists developing your skills and competences, treating critically ill patients on life support machines with attachments.
Main duties of the job
The post involves taking on responsibility for managing a caseload, which will involve providing rehabilitation both physically and psychologically providing functional and cognitive assessments. You will plan and implement interventions and evaluate outcomes of physiotherapy and occupational treatments.
You will also be helping develop the rehabilitation pathway of these patients and following them up onto the wards once they have left the intensive care unit, again providing the physical and cognitive treatments on the ward together with the ward therapists.
There will be close working with other members of the MDT to be able to complete this along with strong support from within the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy profession.
Development of skills and knowledge within this post will be of a high priority. The successful candidate would be expected to undertake training and working with specialist staff to make maximum use of the opportunities on offer.
