BASE: Your primary base will be Leicester Royal Infirmary however travelbetween UHL's hospital sites will be required

REPORTS TO: Specimen Reception Supervisor

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Through Head of Department to Clinical Director

Main duties of the job

A vacancy has arisen for the position of Biomedical Assistant in the busy Specimen Reception areas of the combined Haematology and Biochemistry departments (Blood Sciences) within Pathology at University Hospitals of Leicester.

Providing support for the smooth running of the laboratory, your duties will include:

- Receipt of Pathology samples prior to analysis

- Inputting of data from patient request forms onto the system

- preparation of samples for analysis

- The post will also involve a number of general housekeeping duties

- An element of manual dexterity is also required

The pathology service operates on a 24/7 basis, and therefore shifts are arranged during these times, including weekends, evenings and nights.

The successful applicant will be educated to GCSE level with previous experience involving a keen attention to detail.
