Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist - Paediatric MSK

Are you a Musculoskeletal paediatric physiotherapist looking for an exciting new challenge? An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Musculoskeletal paediatric physiotherapist to join the Physiotherapy Department to work alongside an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist setting up and running the 12 month pilot project of an Paediatric Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Triage Service (PPOTS), screening referrals before they reach the Paediatric Consultant Orthopaedic service, assessing, treating, referring to paediatric MSK Outpatients or the Orthopaedic consultants as necessary. As a pilot project the role will involve a lot of data gathering and service evaluation to support proof of concept and ensure it's success.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, highly experienced and competent MSK Paediatric Physiotherapist with a commitment to patient focused care, maintaining their CPD / specialist skills and who can work flexibly which may include evenings and weekends as necessary.
You will continue to develop and evaluate your role to ensure that patients are provided with high quality and appropriate evidence-based care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Orthopaedic colleagues.
Main duties of the job
- To support the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in the provision of the Paediatric Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Triage Service (PPOTS) pilot project.
- To be responsible for the screening and onward referral of patients referred to the pilot service, under the supervision and support of the APP.
- To be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a complex, paediatric caseload of children (0-15yrs, or 18yrs with special needs) using enhanced clinical decision-making skills.
- Experience in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of children's musculoskeletal disorders is essential.
The PPOT service will be run from UHL sites as well as from other locations across the LLR system, e.g. Loughborough, and travel will be required between these sites.

- Provide clinical and professional leadership to physiotherapy colleagues in the speciality area
- Lead, evaluate and develop clinical practice within their speciality, ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines and frameworks
- Be responsible for the clinical standards, evidence based practise and quality metrics within the speciality
- Work as an autonomous practitioner to provide specialist therapy assessments, diagnose and develop individualised treatment programmes based on the childs needs, using advanced clinical reasoning skills

- Liaise with colleagues and work across site/cross specialty if appropriate in order to ensure the provision of a seamless equitable service
- Deputise for the Therapy Clinical Team Leader as appropriate
- Develop the evidence base for practice through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity
