Job summary

The East Midlands Planned Care Centre (EMPCC) is a new facility at Leicester General Hospital, designed to play a key role in reducing the number of people with long waits for treatment. The EMPCC gives UHL a unique opportunity to transform how we deliver planned care services across the region. Our ambition supports excellence, innovation and patient choice, leading the way regionally and nationally to establish the centre as a benchmark for others. Crucially, the EMPCC will enable us to continue to deliver planned care even during the busiest periods for the parts of our hospital which focus on urgent and emergency care. This means we expect to see around 100,000 units of patient activity every year, focusing on high volume, low complexity activity.

About us

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
