Job summary

We are a dynamic, growing, and enthusiastic paediatric team. Our goal is to provide patient-centred care and create a safe and enjoyable environment with gold standard imaging quality for all our paediatric patients.

The Leicester Royal Infirmary's Emergency Department features 3 Wireless DR rooms and 2 CT Scanners. Separate departments for in-patients, paediatrics, and out-patients are equipped with 6 Samsung DR units and Paediatric Fluoroscopy. The cardiac catheter lab state-of-the-art Philips equipment.

Paediatric Radiographers rotate through various paediatric areas based on an established roster, covering weekday shifts, weekends, Bank Holidays, and on-call duties in the Paediatric Cath Lab. This rotation includes plain film, Paediatric fluoroscopy, Cath lab, and dental radiography.

We support career progression in radiographic reporting, Advanced Practice, and roles like ultrasound and vascular access.

Depending on level of experience at entrance, the post-holder will initiate as a Band 5 or 6. Completion of a development package will qualify in gaining a Band 6 position if required.

HCPC registration and NHS experience are essential.

Main duties of the job

As a paediatric radiographer you will receive full training to work in the biplane paediatric cardiac catheter lab, rotation through plain film in our purpose built Emergency Department and our paediatric in-patient and out-patient departments. Also be able to performed Paediatric Flouroscopy. You will also have the opportunity to join our award winning Forensic Radiography service offering virtual autopsy should that be of interest to you.

Your working pattern will include participation on the 24 hour on-call rota for the cardiac catheter lab as well as weekend and public holiday shift working.

Excellent radiographic skills, leadership, teaching, coordination, organising skills. Ability to communicate and delegate appropriately.
