Job summary
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic nurse who is looking for a challenge in the specialist field of diabetes. We have a vacancies for Band 7 Community Diabetes Specialist Nurses (DSN) in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
You will join our community nursing team who support and upskill GP practices to manage diabetes at primary care level and, visit housebound and care home patients. As a community DSN you will have responsibilities as a senior nurse clinician to support people with diabetes and deliver high quality and safe care.
As an experienced DSN you will be able to provide your team with sound clinical judgement and act as a role model for your profession. Taking responsibility as a senior nurse clinician you will be a problem solver and decision-maker, assessing complex patients and planning their care needs.
Main duties of the job
University Hospitals of Leicester is one of the largest teaching hospitals in England comprising of three hospital sites. Although your base will be at the Leicester General Hospital, you will be based in the community supporting clinics at local district hospitals and GP practices and working with primary care networks.
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Community Diabetes Services support people with diabetes across the county and city, with Leicester city having a high prevalence of diabetes, you will have plenty of opportunities to develop and grow your skills. The team work closely with the Leicester Diabetes Centre which has a national and international reputation for clinical care underpinned by innovative and world leading clinical research.
In this role you will be delivering care directly to people who use our services. Families, and carers play an important contribution in how people experience their care from us, you will be expected to have a key leadership role, acting as a role model for others and supporting families and carers to manage people with diabetes safely in the community.
