Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and innovative NMAHP leader to help develop and deliver ambitious plans for effective services as part of the soon to be established East Midlands RRDN.

Experience of system leadership will be essential, along with the ability to work across multiple complex agendas and develop strong partnerships across the East Midlands. The RRDN will require influencing and negotiation skills, and will seek to build strong and lasting partnerships, which will provide increased research opportunities across diverse communities to help address complex and ever evolving health and care challenges.

As the RRDN is currently transitioning from the Clinical Research Network, your experience and skills in times of transformation and change will be critical. We will require expert leadership to deliver service transformation, people change and continual support for stakeholders and partners as we collectively embrace these changes to make our strategic ambitions become a reality.

The role will report to the East Midlands RRDN Director and provide visible, dynamic and effective senior leadership, drawing on your experience as a Nurse, Midwife or Allied Health Professional with an understanding of the importance of research across health and social care. You will also work closely with the RRDN Health and Care Research Director (Medical), Strategic Development and Operations Directors as part of the Leadership Team.

Main duties of the job

In collaboration with the RRDN Strategic Development & Operations Directors, and RRDN Health & Care Research Director (Medical), you will assist with the development of the RRDN 3 year Strategic Plan, which will be in line with the national RDN strategic priorities and initiatives but translated into deliverable priorities for the RRDN region

Working with the communities of practice, you will identify workforce development opportunities and thereby assist in increasing the research capacity and capability within the region and nationally, with particular emphasis on addressing the needs of the life sciences industry (across both commercial contract and commercial collaborative research)

In collaboration with the RRDN Operations Director, you will co-ordinate the provision of expert proactive advice regarding study design to optimise deliverability and assist in the identification of sites and Principal Investigators, and provide reactive advice and support where study delivery or performance is an issue

The RRDN Health & Care Research Directors will work with the proposed NIHR RRLOs to develop complementary activities regarding strategic workforce development for the aligned aim of increasing research capacity and capability, the RRLO having a focus on the clinical academic community.

Alongside their regional responsibilities, the RRDN Health & Care Research Directors will co-develop and lead national programmes of work in collaboration with the RDN Co-ordinating Centre.

About us

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • High-quality care for all,
  • Being a great place to work
  • Partnerships for impact
  • Research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • We are compassionate
  • We are proud
  • We are inclusive
  • We are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
