Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Renal, Respiratory, Cardiothoracic and Vascular (RRCV)Clinical Management Group as the Service Manager for Cardiology.

As a Service Manager you will be a core part of the Cardiology service within the Renal, Respiratory, Cardiothoracic and Vascular (RRCV) Management Team to facilitate achievement of operational key performance indicators and improve quality of care within the Cardiology specialty.

Working closely with the General Manager, Head of Service and Matrons, the role is responsible for the planning and delivery of services within Cardiology which includes Inpatient and Outpatient services.

Main duties of the job

As a leader within Cardiology, you will be responsible for promoting the vision and values of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, leading by example, ensuring demonstration of those values in leadership behaviours and how to support the team in delivering outstanding patient care and excellent services.

The successful applicant will have management experience within the NHS and track record of operational achievement and service improvement.

You will be working in a senior operating structure, with the requirement to be visible and accessible across the Specialty and within the Clinical Management Group. You will work with the General Manager, Head of Service and Matrons as part of the Cardiology Leadership Team to deliver the comprehensive recovery and improvement plans across the service. You will lead on transformation and operational delivery and play a key role across many workstreams within Cardiology.

The Service Manager roles offers you the chance to put your skills and experience to good use in one of the country's biggest and busiest teaching hospitals.

Applicants for this role will need to have demonstrable experience of monitoring and managing healthcare targets, a team of other staff and also budgets at a basic level. It will also be essential that they understand health service provision and ideally have detailed knowledge of one or more services.
