Job summary
The Security Co-ordinator will provides a key business support function across security services, including administrative and operational support to the Trust Security Services Leads.
The post holder reports directly to the deputy head of security but will work with all security leads to support service delivery and the security portfolio
Knowledge and experience of delivering security in a public sector environment, technical and security work streams is essential, including specialised IT systems, project management, and training experience.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for improving the safety and security of patients, staff and visitors and ensure the Trust's compliance with relevant guidelines and legislation.
The role has no direct reports; however, the post holder must be able to work as a key member of the Security team and the wider E&F Structures and to enable colleagues in accordance with the NHS People Promise and Trust Policies and Procedures
To train colleagues on work procedures and deliver project/ system training as required.

Job responsibilities
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Trust Security Services Leads.
- Review Trust reporting system DATIX for potential or actual security breaches / incidents and support the appropriate resolution of incidents in line with Trust policy.
- Undertake the reporting of identified crimes to the Police or other relevant enforcement agency
- Provide specialist security advice, guidance and signposting to staff, patients and visitors Trust wide in line with Trust policies.
- Support with the investigation of security and crime related incidents, gathering and collating material and work in partnership to guide and deliver appropriate outcomes
- Undertake activity to create a pro-security culture within the Trust so that staff and patients accept responsibility for security matters and ensure that any security or criminal incidents or concerns are reported.
- Co-ordinate security resources to support enhanced observation of patients on wards.
- Enter, process and store security related data. Develop and create reports in relation to security performance and projects using a range of IT applications.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies such as the Police, HSE, NHS Fraud colleagues to facilitate investigations.
- Support the planning, implementation and management of physical security measures and controls, including access control and CCTV, through effective audit, risk assessment and stakeholder collaboration.
- Produce, co-ordinate, monitor and review security action plans.
- Provide support for security led meetings
- Co-ordinate the provision of CCTV and other material in relation to subject access requests and investigations in line with Trust Policy and legislation.
- Deliver security events and training to staff across all Hospital sites to inform/educate and support staff and promote a pro-Security culture within the Trust, through road shows, educational forums, training and drop in sessions.
- Plan and organise complex activities and programmes of work within the security function including supporting security managers in the management of projects and undertaking key work-streams within those projects.
- Analyse a range of facts and information sources to with respect to project work stream or security service delivery options. Make assessments and judgements on the best solutions to achieve an object or solve an issue.
- Order supplies for security project leads and undertake stock/budget control for day to day running of security function.
- Work autonomously within role, including the development of procedure and protocols for projects and daily operations. Work is managed rather than supervised.
