JOB SUMMARYThe post holder will be responsible for the day to day administration of junior doctors'working within the Cardiology and Respiratory Departments. This will include acting asa point of contact for all junior doctors ensuring that the service has adequate coverarrangements in place at all times.The post holder will be a key member of the Emergency Departments central adminteam; providing a lead role in the management of junior doctors.It is expected that the Junior Doctor Administrators post holder will work with theConsultants and junior doctor operational manager to take a key role in improvingworking conditions for junior doctors in the Service
Main duties of the job
1. MAIN DUTIES1.1 Establish excellent communication systems with Junior Doctors andConsultant medical staff. Act as a key point of contact for other clinical andnon-clinical staff in relation to Junior Doctor issues and on call cover.1.2 Co-ordinate and administer all rotas to ensure that appropriate coverarrangements are in place at all times. Check that any leave booked doesnot interfere with on call commitments.1.3 Assist the Team leader in maintaining an accurate record of junior doctors'annual leave/ special leave/study leave/sick leave, ensuring appropriateauthorisation is given and highlighting any potential/actual difficulties.1.4 Forward all reports of sickness and absence to the Team Leader of allmedical staff as appropriate.1.5 Design and create on call rota that meets EWTD and service requirementswithin staffing constraints, ensuring base wards are covered adequately.Distribute on-call rotas to Multi-disciplinary team to ensure thatarrangements and clinic reductions can be made to cover rotacommitments.1.6 In liaison with the Team leader/Operational Manager co-ordinate Directorateinduction days for junior medical staff at the start of each rotation.1.7 Negotiate locum cover with locum bookers for sickness absence within theagreed Divisional protocol. Review CV's of potential locums beforesubmitting for Consultant approval to ensure locum meets minimumrequirements. Keep an up to date internal locum register.
