Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, forward thinking finance team.

At UHL we are passionate about the development and progression of our staff and so have created a tailored role to support this within the Financial Performance Team.

If you are looking for a role that shapes how finance meets the needs of our healthcare services, engaging with clinical teams and managers as well as a real focus on your personal development, then this is a prime opportunity.

This is an opportunity to take a real 'hands on' approach to finance, providing a comprehensive service while working closely with a range of key stakeholders within the trust and the wider Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland (LLR) health economy.

We are a Directorate with huge ambitions to become 'best in class;' to develop ourselves and our services to help support providing excellent patient care.

The Finance and Procurement directorate has made significant investments into the structure and its training and development programme to ensure staff are able to deliver high standard services whilst being supported to progress in their professional careers.

Main duties of the job

  • The role will ensure a robust, high performing and sustainable financial performance function is delivered to the Trust for the Clinical Management Group.

  • The role will act as a key operational link between the Operational Area and Corporate Finance teams.

  • A fundamental part of this role is for the post holder to take ownership of the processes underpinning the accurate and timely reporting of the financial position across all areas of the Trust. This will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Overseeing the month end process from start to finish

  • Ensuring consistency and efficiency in all generic tasks required

  • Ownership of the month end timetable and adhering to strict deadlines

  • Maximising automated data population into standard Trust reporting templates

  • Support and consolidation of Operational Area forecasts

  • Supporting the budget planning process and contributing to guidance documents

  • Proactive in answering queries

  • Support the Financial Performance/Financial Planning and Analysis team (as appropriate) in fully integrating SLR/PLiCS reporting and that this is understood and utilised as a key performance management and decision making tool.

About us

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030). We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities. Our strategy is underpinned by newvalues and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
